Buying standards online the best sources for ISO, IEC & etc.

Find out where you can buy standards such as ISO, IEC and EN most cheaply. Our guide compares prices and suppliers across Europe.

The best sources for ISO, IEC & etc.

National and international standards

Standards from ISO, IEC and ITU can be purchased through their respective online shops (for example the shops of ISO and IEC) or via national mirror organizations (for example DKE and DIN in Germany) or their publishers (for example DIN-Media or formerly the Beuth publishing house in Germany).

The situation is different for national standards - these are usually distributed only by the respective national organization. For DIN standards, for example, this is the Beuth publishing house.

There are generally no price differences between providers. However, if standards have been harmonized in Europe (i.e., published as EN), the situation changes somewhat.

European standards

European standards (EN) and other documents (prEN, TS, TR, CWA, …) can officially be purchased through the national CEN or CENELEC members and their partners. CEN and CENELEC do not sell standards themselves.

An overview of the members and partners can be found here: https://www.cencenelec.eu/european-standardization/european-standards/obtaining-european-standards/

Because the standards are usually available in English, it generally does not matter in practice from which supplier you buy them - except, of course, if you need the translation into the local language.

When you compare the different suppliers, you quickly notice that prices for standards vary widely.

Country Price
Germany (DKE / Beuth) 111,69 EUR
Bulgaria (BDS) 120,80 BGN (~ 62 EUR)

Poland (PKN) 231 PLN (~52 EUR)
Cyprus (CYS) 92 EUR
Serbia (ISS) 4964 RSD (~ 42 EUR)
Slovakia (UNMS) 21,96 EUR bis 31.72 EUR

Sample comparison of some providers using EN IEC 62443-4-1 as an example

In our comparison, the Slovak standards organization UNMS has been the cheapest so far.

Because the search function and the site overall are cumbersome to use, we prefer the Estonian EVS shop; although it is minimally more expensive, it is much more intuitive to use. Our recommendation is therefore to order the required standards directly from EVS: https://www.evs.ee/en/search?OnlySuggestedProducts=false&query=62443&Search=Search
